Photosho and Web design tutorials for your inspiration
Higher quality, more visitors (1.000+ on avg.)

Our site is almost fully functional and in short time it will reach it`s final form. The site will have a News section, this article is the first one of the serie. In this first News article I want to talk about the site and it`s goals for this year: a higher quality website with higher quality tutorials and more visitors for our publishers.

Introduction

My name is Boros Csaba (Csabi), now I'm 17 and I live in Romania and I am a beginner English speaker and I am also the creator of this site and the only administrator, developer and designer of the site, but from the listed occupations programming is what I know and like the most (if you want to talk about programming or about the site then please contact me at info@tutorialswindow.com, I'm happy to share my knowledge and to share ideas). I'we created this site from several reasons, the main reason was to test my web programming skills, a tutorial collection site was the best choice to develop because every site need to have content and here the content is sent by others :) An another reason was to earn some money with it, to have a project to show on contest (I'we already won the 3rd place on an international contest) and to include it in my portfolio. And for sure a very motivating reason was to build a community, an active community and it' very good to see it growing.

Some statistics - 1.000 visitors on average!

The site currently has 172 submitted approved tutorials and 16 published approved tutorials with a total of 191.878 views, 1.021 visitors on average per tutorial. 1.021 is a very high average value and it`s possible only because I accept only the top quality tutorials and this is good both for publishers because they get more visitors and both for the readers because they don`t need to seek through a lot of junk to find the valuable content.

One of my main goals is to increase this value to 1.500 average views/tutorial until the end of this year, so I will rise the quality of the site and I will try to bring new people to the community.

As you probably noticed the tutorials are published only after I approve them and I think the approval is very fast comparing to many of my competitors, I try to approve the tutorials as fast as I can, I check my site for new tutorials at least 10 times a day, from my desktop or my phone so the tutorials are approved withing a few hours. (I need to apologize for the the past 2 weeks when I could not approve any tutorials because I`we submitted my site to a contest and I`we made it to the international final and I won the 3rd place with it :) but the contest`s rules said that I must not made any changes to my work after submitting it). But now everything went to normal so the tutorials are accepted within a few hours, but are not show immediately on the site because, each site has at least 3 hours to be the first tutorial on the site so after I approve some tutorials they are moved in a queue from where a tutorial is added to the main page each 3 hours. Although the tutorials are immediately show in the category and subcategory pages so they can already start to bring visitors.

Website improvements

I do know that the website has a lot of bugs and features under construction, for example 2-3 weeks ago the site was hacked, but I`we already fixed some weak points but I do know that it has some vulnerable pages so I have a lot of things to fix and build.

My main plans/goals/ideas with the development of the site for this year:

1) I want to create a new commenting system with Gravatar avatars and I want to make it so I can approve or deny the comments and when I approve a comment the author of the tutorial where the comment was added will be notified so he can reply the questions.

2) I want to complete the publishing system and to bring more people who want to publish, I think the publishing system is very easy to use and it`s a great system for writing tutorials, but it has some features that are still under construction.

3) I want to finish and fix each page of the site and I want to write some tutorials/articles about how to use the site and all it`s features.

4) I want to create a feedback form so I could find each error of the site and I would know what is good, what is not and what would be good.
